Study: 78% Say Marijuana Helps Treat Medical Condition

Health Marijuana

The University of Michigan released findings from its study regarding the use of marijuana for medical purposes. The study also looked at the attitude directed toward medical marijuana use and the mainstream healthcare system.

The study revealed that 78% of those surveyed said that marijuana has helped treat a health condition, Fox 10 News reports. The respondents indicated that they prefer medical marijuana over pharmaceuticals, and that they trust medical marijuana more than mainstream healthcare practices.

Of those surveyed, 42% stopped taking a pharmaceutical and substituted it with medical marijuana. Additionally, 38% said they’ve reduced their use of pharmaceuticals with the help of medical marijuana.

The respondents had better success treating their specific medical conditions with medical marijuana and found it to be effective, safer, having fewer side effects, less expensive and less addictive.
