The New Mexico Department of Health, which operates the state’s medical marijuana program, stated that it will issue licenses to twelve new medical marijuana cultivation companies.
Of the 86 applicants, the department considered many factors when narrowing the list of potential cultivator licensees, such as plans for production, security, sales and distribution, quality assurance and agricultural experience.
Once implemented, this will bring the number of licensed cultivators for New Mexico’s medical marijuana program to 35.
The department’s decision to have more cultivators will help with New Mexico’s short supply of marijuana for patients.
